Does BP have a Shadow outreach plan?

At yesterdays Town of Cape Vincent Work shop Town Councilman Clif Schneider asked BP attorney John  Harris &  Project Developer Richard Chandler about BP's Shadow Outreach.

Town Councilman Clif Schneider asked project developer Richard Chandler and BP lawyer Harris about what he called their shadow outreach. Specifically what he asked about was BP's involvement in lawsuits, one against the Town of lyme and one against two local bloggers.
Mr. Schneider noted that in 2008 a group of land owners filed a lawsuit against the town of Lyme because they felt that Lyme's law effectively banned the development of wind-generating facilities within the town.
Next Mr. Schneider asked about the current lawsuit against Cape's two bloggers, Pandora's Box of Rocks and Jefferson Leaning Left.
Mr. Schneider mentioned the timing of the blogger lawsuit as being relative to the Article 10 process and he pointed out that in the complaint against the two bloggers, plaintiffs clearly identify themselves as voters for wind and citizens for fair government.
He based his question of BPs involvement in both lawsuits on  several points.
In their PIP, BP established an explicit connection between themselves Trieste Associates and Voters for Wind.
BP- Project Developer Richard Chandler
“In 2007, BP retained the services of Trieste Associates and the company’s team of public outreach experts to assist with planning events to educate and engage the public. As part of this effort, BP assisted a group of local wind power supporters in the Towns of Cape Vincent and Lyme to form a group known as Voters for Wind.” Additionally Mr. Schneider cited a NYSERDA sponsored school curriculum
“Trieste Associates has helped citizens organize groups such as Voters for Wind in New York that educates the public about the benefits of renewable energy resources. Voters for Wind filed and won a law suit against the elected officials who voted to prohibit a wind farm in the Town of Lyme, New York.”
Mr. Schneider also mentioned that the wind leases contain clauses that require landowners to fully cooperate in the approval and permitting process of their wind farm at no out - of - pocket expense to the land owner.  He also noted that
the lawyers for the plaintiffs in the blogger case  have represented BP in numerous other legal cases and they also have offices in the same Huston Texas building as BP.

Henry Ford hired thugs to beat into submission anyone who would oppose his anti-union policies. The thugs would receive compensation and favors in exchange for denying others their civil rights. The Cape has all the ingredients for one of the oldest games of submission in the history of exploitation. Bp, Trieste Associates, Voters for Wind and promised money. It appears that they are continuing to develop hatred toward the seasonals (outsiders). Already, the Democrats and Citizens for Fair Government have passed what many believed was a petition falsely claiming voter fraud. It was used by prowind to pass an illegal voter registration law. Then the two chairman of the the prowind political parties sent out letters to out of town accssesors of seasonals. We all have good reason to believe that some out of town property owners who they knew were pro wind did not get the intimidating letters. It is very likely that Bp and Trieste are behind the lawsuits against the citizens of Cape and Lyme.

I think the lawsuit taken by voters for wind and citizens for fair government might have been timed for the elections, too. Perhaps the Dems and the CFFG wanted to scare the bejeezus out of anybody who visited and commented on the blogs. They may have wanted to take the bloggers our of the process. I don't think they wanted any truth being told out there while they were trying to get their political virgin pretty boy elected. In the case of this suit the judge will have to ask, "Is youse the defamor or is you the defamee?"

At some point I believe all of the plaintiffs have made public statements violating or questioning others' civil rights. One plaintiff even jumped and knocked down a anti-wind moderator speaker at an anti-wind coalition meeting. This action will most likely grow and grow and grow as Bp and Trieste are involved in "informing" our community. Is it a method of corporate thuggery?
